Collegiate Nation was founded based on two simple principles.
Protect the privacy of college students and give college students total control over anything they post online.
As a company, we have no desire to resemble the typical for-profit organization. Our commitment is an uncompromising pledge to protect personal privacy and insure that every college student retains total control and ownership of personal data and all submissions.
What's Yours, Stays Yours.
We believe that you have a right to socialize with your college friends without being tracked and monitored by online data collectors and data brokers -- whose sole purpose is to collect as much information as they can about you to sell or trade with banks, creditors, future employers, insurance companies and who knows who. We believe that your college years are a special time -- and that you need to protect your privacy during this phase of your life. We believe you have a right to socialize and connect with your friends online without giving up your right to privacy. We believe you have a right to delete anything you post or to post anonymously. We believe that public sites like Facebook are data collection centers.
We have a core belief. You have the right to Experience Socializing and Privacy as One.
Collegiate Nation was founded by Evelyn Castillo-Bach. She is an entrepreneur mom who decided to take on Facebook by collaborating with bright young developers to create a platform that empowers ordinary people to connect in private. She earned her MS in 1993 from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She has traveled extensively in Ethiopia and in the Balkans, accompanying her Danish husband who is a lawyer.
